Course Description
Musculoskeletal disorders (MSD) are a substantial workplace problem. Exposures to occupational hazards substantially increase workers' risk of developing MSDs. The effects on MSD risk of the physical requirements of work performance are well recognized; but there is now ample evidence that work-related psychosocial hazards can also have substantial effects. This evidence is not reflected in current workplace risk management practices. This presentation will outline the need for a change in the way we are managing MSD.
You will learn:
- A substantial evidence base supports the role of physical and psychosocial hazards in the development of musculoskeletal disorders
- A change is needed to current approaches to risk management of musculoskeletal disorders
- What might constitute evidence informed risk management practices for musculoskeletal disorders?
