Introduction 

Recruiting candidates with disabilities and all underrepresented groups as well as fostering a supportive workplace environment are key components of building a diverse and inclusive workforce. This course explores strategies for creating inclusive messaging for the entire candidate application phase including job descriptions, career pages and policies to attract talented individuals of all abilities. Additionally, it discusses the impact of culture and the role of all employees, from frontline workers to senior leaders in creating supportive environments and reducing stigma.

Audience 

This program is designed for leaders or managers that want to take a proactive approach to an inclusive candidate application phase of the recruitment cycle.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will gain knowledge in:

• Making recruitment and hiring processes more inclusive and how employers can signal to prospective employees that their workplace supports people with disabilities.
• Crafting disability-inclusive messaging on career web pages, understanding the online job searching behavior of individuals with disabilities, and learning strategies to tailor messaging that encourages them to apply and self-identify.
• Creating inclusive job descriptions that are conscientious of disabled workers as well as reviewing and begin adopting new standards, best practices and considerations in writing recruitment and hiring policies
• The impact of culture, and how everyone, from frontline employees to senior leaders, can play a role in creating a work environment that supports disclosure and reduces stigma
