Thank you for choosing to take Course 10 in the Inclusion Works: Transformative Recruitment Practices certificate. These courses are for professionals looking to enhance workplace inclusivity and productivity through their recruitment practices. Understanding the nuances of disability management enables professionals to effectively support employees with disabilities, leading to a more diverse and engaged workforce. Additionally, hiring people with disabilities fosters a more inclusive workplace culture and brings unique perspectives and talents, enriching teams and driving innovation and success.

This course focuses on :

The presentation will focus on employment issues faced by individuals living with multiple sclerosis (MS) and the known factors associated with unemployment in MS. 

The webinar will include recent findings with regard to the role of disease and person-specific factors and how they contribute to either leaving the workforce or staying employed.

Finally, a discussion of the outcomes of unemployment will be provided as well as the importance of staying active if leaving the workforce.

Learning outcomes:  

  • Participants will develop a greater understanding about employment issues in multiple sclerosis (MS) and the factors most associated with either leaving the workforce or staying employed.
  • Individuals will obtain a great appreciation for the person-specific factors (e.g., personality, self-efficacy) and their role on employment status as well as other factors associated with health related quality of life, coping, and management of one’s MS.

Senior Research Scientist, Neuropsychology & Neuroscience Laboratory at Kessler Foundation​

Lauren Strober, PhD

Dr. Strober is a Senior Research Scientist at Kessler Foundation, Assistant Research Professor at Rutgers Stat University of New Jersey Medical School, and a clinical neuropsychologist.  Her research focuses on issues pertaining to psychological well-being and quality of life (QOL) for those living with multiple sclerosis (MS) and the development of clinical interventions aimed at amerliorating the disease and person-specific factors found to account for detriments in functioning and well-being for those with MS.This program is pre-approved by VRA Canada for a 1 hour training session
