Course Description

With many workers still required to work from home due to COVID-19, it is important for employers and HR professionals to understand the part they continue to play in employee well-being and productivity while working remotely. During this webinar our panelists will advise attendees on what employers can do to continue to promote healthy workspaces during COVID-19, while also sustaining productivity in remote teams, and what should be considered when shaping long-term strategies for successful remote work. Attendees of this webinar will be better prepared to address some of the issues that continue to arise as a result of the pandemic.

Manobhiram (Manu) Nellutla, CCPE

Manu Nellutla is the Executive Director at Actsafe Safety Association. He is a Canadian Certified Professional Ergonomist (CCPE) and a CMHA Certified Psychological Health and Safety Advisor (CPHSA). He has Post-Graduate degrees in Physiotherapy (with specialization in Musculoskeletal and Sports), Education, Ergonomics (with specialization in Human Factors) and Business Administration. Manu is also the Regional President for the Association of Ergonomists BC-Yukon Region. Apart from being a speaker in various conferences, he has also been a speaker at TEDx event. He was previously COO at Manufacturing Safety Alliance of BC and before that Senior Lecturer and Head of Department at University of Rwanda. Manu also sits on the boards of Work Wellness Institute, BC Wheelchair Basketball Society and Urban Ink. Manu has been recognized for his efforts to introduce ergonomics in school curriculum in Rwanda and was also a technical team member for drafting OHS legislation for Rwanda.

Kevin Kelloway, PhD

E. Kevin Kelloway is the Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in Occupational Health Psychology and Professor of Organizational Psychology at Saint Mary's University, Halifax NS. His research focuses on issues related to organizational leadership, mental health in the workplace and occupational health psychology and he has published over 200 articles and book chapters and 14 books dealing with these issue. He has been elected a Fellow of four academic societies and received awards for Distinguished Contributions to I/O Psychology and for being a Distinguished Psychologist in Management. He is active in several professional associations and served as President of the Canadian Psychological Association in 2016. A popular public speaker, he also runs a consultancy advising both public and private sector clients on a variety of issues related to leadership and human resource management.

Arla Day, PhD

Arla Day is a Professor of Occupational Health Psychology at Saint Mary's University, and she is the Director of the CN Centre for Occupational Health & Safety. She is a Fellow of the Canadian Psychological Association, and she was a Canada Research Chair for 10 years. Both her research and consulting work focus on supporting worker health and functioning by developing and validating effective organizational and individual programs that address inclusive leadership, healthy workplaces, workplace respect and civility, employee well-being, disability, and work-life balance. Arla served as an international advisor on the Stockholm Stress Centre’s Advisory Board, and was on the American Psychological Association’s Psychology in the Workplace Board. She chaired the Nova Scotia Psychological Healthy Workplace Program committee for 16 years, as currently chairs the NS Occupational Health Psychology-Summer Institute.
