Course Description
Dr. Duygu Gulseren joins us for an interactive hour of learning that explores the impact of leadership behaviors on employees with chronic pain. Equipping participants with transformational leadership strategies to foster inclusivity, enhance performance and better support chronic pain in the workplace.
Learning Outcomes
- Explain the connection between supervisors’ leadership behaviors and chronic pain of employees.
- Revise and appraise their own transformational leadership behaviors and apply them in the chronic pain context.
- Gain familiarity with a leadership development program that target specific outcomes.
- Articulate the inclusivity, leadership, and performance outcomes of a pain-focused transformational leadership training program.
- Discuss how they can reduce costs associated with mismanaged chronic pain.

Assistant professor at the School of Human Resource Management at York University
Dr. Duygu Gulseren
Dr. Duygu Gulseren works as an assistant professor at the School of Human Resource Management at York University, Toronto Canada. She is also the chair of the Canadian Association for Industrial/Organizational Psychology. As an expert in healthy work, she studies healthy and safe work, leadership, and sustainability. She also teaches occupational health and safety. Duygu obtained her Ph.D. in Industrial and Organizational Psychology. She also holds a master’s degree in psychology and a bachelor’s degree in Chemical and Biological Engineering. Prior to her academic career, Duygu worked as an HR consultant. In addition to her academic publications, her research has appeared in various media outlets such as Harvard Business Review, Psychology Today, and Canadian HR Reporter.
