Course Description
This webinar will explore preliminary results from the Sun Life-Ivey Canadian Wellness ROI Study.
The first of its kind in Canada, this academically rigorous research contributes to the business case and the health case for workplace wellness programs. Michael Rouse, Associate Professor, Strategy and Organization at the Ivey Business School at the University of Western Ontario and Principal Researcher of the Study will review study methodology and outcomes, and Michelle Ashworth, Senior Specialist, Health and Wellness at Sun Life Financial will relate study learnings to practical application within the workplace.
Learning objectives
- Establish the quality of the evidence based study methodology and outcomes related to employee health, productivity and organizational impact.
- Understand the key influencers of a successful wellness strategy. Areas of discussion will include: organizational practices, targeted programming, culture and engagement, productivity, and benefits related costs.
- Relate study learnings to practical applications within the workplace.
Michael J. Rouse, BA (hons), MA, PhD.
Dr. Rouse is associate professor, Ivey Business School at Western University and principal investigator of the Sun Life— Ivey Canadian Wellness ROI study.
His research has been published in prestigious academic journals such as Strategic Management Journal, Management Learning, Journal of World Business, Implementation Science, and Journal of Public Health Policy.
He's been guest editor of two academic journals and has co-authored five books, one of which – Strategic Analysis and Action – is its ninth edition.
Michelle Ashworth
Senior Specialist, Health & Wellness, Group Benefits, Sun Life Financial
Michelle brings over five years of experience in the Health and Wellness industry, consulting with organizations of various sizes across different industries. A career that began in the fitness industry has given her an appreciation of the impact that physical and mental health can have on an individual – both at home and at work.
As a Senior Specialist on the Sun Life Health & Wellness team, Michelle has in depth knowledge of the health and wellness industry and best practices. She understands the key components of a wellness strategy, and that through these, successful programing can be implemented and become ingrained in the organizational culture.
Michelle is a graduate of the Workplace Wellness and Health Promotion program at Centennial College and has Bachelor of Science with Honours in Human Kinetics from the University of Ottawa.
