Course Description

Understanding the psychosocial environment in your workplace can help you improve the health and wellness of your employees and your organization.

Dr. Stavroula Leka provides an overview of the importance of the psychosocial work environment, and its impact on employee and organisational health.

Stavroula Leka, CPsychol, FBPsS, FRSPH

Stavroula Leka, CPsychol, FBPsS, FRSPH is Associate Professor in Occupational Health Psychology at the University of Nottingham and Director of the Centre for Organizational Health & Development, a WHO collaborating centre in occupational health. Stavroula is a Chartered Psychologist, Chair of the International Commission on Occupational Health scientific committee 'Work Organization & Psychosocial Factors' and Fellow of the Royal Society for Public Health and the British Psychological Society. She is member of the Executive Committees of the World Health Organization Network of Collaborating Centres in Occupational Health, and the European Academy of Occupational Health Psychology.She is Associate Editor of the scientific journal Safety Science and member of the editorial boards of the International Journal for Stress Management and Safety & Health at Work. Her expertise lies in the translation of occupational health and safety knowledge and policy into effective practice with a focus on the management of psychosocial risks and work-related stress and the promotion of mental health in the workplace. She received an early career achievement award by the American Psychological Association for outstanding contribution in occupational health psychology and the study of work-related stress. She is the author of the first textbook in occupational health psychology and the technical author of the first standard on the management of psychosocial risks in the workplace (for the British Standards Institution).
