Fibromyalgia can be a confusing condition for both sufferers and healthcare professionals. There seem to be theories about it's cause and treatments that pop up daily.
Pulling from her 25 years of experience studying fibromyalgia, Connie Luedtke aims to dispel some of the myths about fibromyalgia and gives us up-to-date information on its diagnosis and treatment.
Professor Connie Luedtke walks us through some of the current research on fibromyalgiathat shows how spirituality of various types works as a coping mechanism to support healthier living with chronic pain.
At the end of this lecture, attendees will be able to:
- List one difference between the old and new criteria for diagnosing fibromyalgia
- Identify two components of sensitization that may be present in people with fibromyalgia
- Describe three skills that may decrease symptoms or improve functioning in people with fibromyalgia
